Restoration

Waller Construction provides restoration and repair services for homes and businesses throughout Polk County, FL, and Hillsborough County, FL.. Whether its water, flooding, wind, or fire damage - we are here for you.

Unexpected damage to a home often requires a rapid response to prevent further damage and get the necessary restoration and repair work moving. Waller is ready to help all year long with the following services performed by experienced professionals.

Inspection

No work will begin until we do a thorough inspection to determine what has been damaged and the extent of the damage. This is the only way we can give you an accurate estimate and schedule the right repair and restoration work. As part of our inspections we take detailed photos, measurements, moisture readings, humidity readings, and more. Many times if we need more extensive data, we often also take swabs and other samples to help determine the presence and quantities of mold spores (related to water intrusion events), carbon fibers (related to fire/smoke), etc.

Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration

A property damaged from fire suffers not only damage from the fire but also from heavy smoke as well as the water that is sprayed into the property by the firemen. The aftermath of a fire is unique because many times the home or business is instantly unusable due to the direct damage, the heavy soot, the heavy odor, and water damage. After a fire, Waller can help you:

  • We immediately assess the damaged structure
  • We consult with engineers and architects regarding structural damage
  • We often take carbon sampling and work with an independent lab to ascertain how far the soot traveled
  • We take detailed photos, measurements, and create a diagram of your property
  • Once we have gathered the data we need on the extent of damage and have an understanding of the scope of work, we can proceed with our restoration:
  • Inventory, cleaning, moving, and storage of your contents (any that can be salvaged)
  • Demolition of materials directly damaged by the fire.
  • Demolition of damaged/porous soot contaminated materials (drywall, flooring, insulation, flooring, etc.).
  • Cleaning of all areas using special equipment to remove soot
  • Application of specialty encapsulating sealants to wall framing, trusses, decking, etc.
  • Application of deodorizing fog that is used to access small cracks and crevices.
  • Inspection upon completion and additional swab sampling of surfaces to confirm no additional remediation is necessary.

Water and Flooding Remediation/restoration

Flooding can result from a plumbing break, wind storm/heavy rains, or firefighters putting out a house fire. In all cases, we want to remove standing water as quickly as possible. Our crew can then make repairs to anything that was damaged by the flood. This includes replacing water damaged:

  • Cabinets/countertops
  • Flooring
  • Drywall
  • insulation
  • Trim
  • Doors
  • Related repairs (painting, cleaning, etc.)

Mold Remediation

Mold grows fast once your home or business has been saturated from a storm or water event. Certain types of mold spores and a large increase in the amount of mold spores at your property can be toxic. Certain groups are more likely to experience health related issues from mold contamination than others - these include older people (over the age of 60), younger children (under the age of 6), people that suffer from compromised immune systems, and people that have allergy or asthma related conditions. “Black mold” usually refers to Stachybotrys - a particularly toxic type of mold - but there are many other mold species that can also wreak havoc on your health.

When we encounter a mold situation, we take the following remediation steps:

  • Obtain swab and/or air samples and obtain mold counts, types of mold, levels of contamination, etc.
  • Set up containment within the home.
  • Removal of moldy materials that cannot be sanded or cleaned (drywall/baseboard/cabinets/carpeting/wood flooring/furniture/etc.).
  • Sanding of exposed wood framing (physically removes layer)
  • HEPA vacuuming
  • Detailed cleaning
  • HEPA air filtration equipment
  • Clean or replace ductwork, clean air handlers

Upon the completion of these steps, we also perform testing (swab and/or air sampling) that is administered by a third party lab to determine if additional remediation will be required. Once we obtain final testing and confirm that no additional remediation will be needed, the property is then ready for repairs to begin.

Cleaning, Moving, and Storing

We clean items and structures within the home and, when necessary, move contents into temporary, climate-controlled storage units. This process includes:

  • Detailed inventory
  • Cleaning and packing of personal contents
  • Using packing paper to carefully protect our clients contents
  • Labeling each box
  • Moving furniture, boxes, etc. to storage containers on site or off site to storage facilities
  • Upon completion of work, picking up the same contents and delivering back to the property
  • Re-checking inventory
  • Cleaning and resetting contents items back into the property
